Grove Lodge Veterinary Group are pleased to inform you that that from 5 July 2010 we will be able to offer veterinary services for exotic pets. Our new vet, Laurel Bowker, has experience in treating a wide range of exotic species including lizards, snakes, chelonians, birds, rabbits and small furries. No patient is too small (current record holder 2g); larger patients are limited by the size of the doorframe! We are happy to see first opinion and referral cases, with a full referral report sent to the referring practice after each case.
We can offer full diagnostic workups including blood sampling, avian DNA sexing, radiography, ultrasonography, rigid endoscopy and faecal analysis. Medical or surgical cases are welcome: common presentations include metabolic bone disease in reptiles, feather plucking in parrots, traumatic injuries, fracture repair, neoplasia surgery, amputations, and foreign body removal. We can perform neutering of small furries, female tortoises and lizards. For rabbits we can offer facilities for all dental work, including incisor and molar extractions if indicated and abscess surgery; dental work can also be performed on smaller herbivores such as guinea pigs and chinchillas. We also have a nurse, Tina, with a further qualification in exotic pet nursing, so you can be sure your patients are in good hands. Advice for your exotic animal cases will also be available by fax or telephone call back.
