About Us - Staff

Vets

In addition to The Directors (Andrew Ash and David Constantine), there are over 15 veterinary surgeons working at Grove Lodge. All of our veterinary staff are highly motivated and continually work with us to provide the best possible care for our clients and their pets.

We believe that in order to provide a service above and beyond customer expectations, it is important for our staff to be happy in their work. We therefore encourage our vets to follow areas of special interest and to undertake courses in continuing professional development.

Our vets provide services throughout the life of your pet, from initial examination and vaccination of a new puppy or kitten, through to a home visit for euthanasia when the time has come to say goodbye.

More information about our vets and the services they provide can be found by visiting the surgeries, hospital and services pages.

Referral Staff

Grove Lodge has specialists in many fields - this helps us find the best solution for your pet's illness. The referral vets are able to provide services for existing Grove Lodge clients, as well as those that have been referred to us by other practices.

We are proud to be able to undertake some of the most highly specialised and advanced surgical procedures available in the UK.

More information about the referral vets and the services provided can be found by visiting the referrals page.

Veterinary Nurses

The nurses play a vital role in the practice, and provide invaluable assistance to our veterinary surgeons. Our nurses have a varied routine and work on a rota basis to ensure that help is always on hand. As well as assisting during consultations and operations, they are involved with the care of our hospitalised patients and help with the general day-to-day running of the Hospital and branch surgeries. Grove Lodge is an Approved Training Centre for veterinary nurses.

As with our veterinary surgeons, the nurses are encouraged to pursue areas of special interest and to undertake further training throughout their careers. Some of our nurses hold managerial status and are responsible for a whole department within the group.

More information about our veterinary nurses can be found by visiting the surgeries, hospital, services (VHA) and jobs pages.

Thank you for all your help with our dog's behaviour problems, we are very happy with the results, it has made a real difference to our lives

Admin & Reception Staff

Our admin team are highly skilled in a wide variety of roles within the practice and they are usually the first person you will talk to when you call us. They can often answer healthcare queries about your pet and all admin staff have had training in the use of preventative treatments eg flea preparations and wormers.

Many have attended bereavement courses and can help support you when the sad time comes to say goodbye to your pet. Please ask to speak to one of our specially trained staff if you would like to talk to someone at this difficult time.

In addition, members of the admin team are fully trained in the use of Hills prescription diets and nutrition. Also, they can advise on correct nutrition for 'small furries', eg rabbits and hamsters etc.

All members of the admin team have observed in theatre and can explain what happens with your pet during routine procedures.

They are also trained in animal handling to enable them to assist the nurses and vets.

Our receptionist Kelly May can even offer basic advice on husbandry for reptiles!
