Amber
“First of all, our very many thanks to the team for all they did for Amber, both during her op and for us. Amber is a loving dog, very friendly, but very alert when anyone calls. She has now fully recovered.
Amber is a lovely little Corgi dog who came in to the practice last year after eating a ham bone a few days before. She had been vomiting a lot and her belly seemed painful. Amber initially became constipated due to the bony material in her gut and we all hoped that when this was moved on she would be ok to go home.
Unfortunately the bone that Amber had eaten started to release nasty toxins into Amberšs system, causing her to become critically ill. Amber needed to have exploratory surgery by day four, as she was not responding to therapy. The bone fragments had to be manually moved through the gut to stop the toxins being released and help settle the severe inflammation of her intestine. Amber was very slow to recover from surgery initially, but after 24hrs she was making good progress. Amber stayed with us for a total of seven days and we were all very pleased to see her make a full recovery.
All throughout her stay, Amber never complained and was a definite favourite with our nursing team. She is a very worthy winner of our Braveheart Award.”
