The RSPB helps create and maintain a better environment for birds and wildlife in general. Their website offers great advice on how you can enjoy helping the birds who regularly visit your garden and encourage more, and includes tips on what to feed them and when.

Cats Protection National Centre (ncac.cats.org.uk)

If you are looking for a new feline friend, why not try Cats Protection National Centre? Often the shy cats can develop into very loyal affectionate companions given patience, time and gentle handling. Perseverance, patience and love are the key words when welcoming a new cat into your home.

Company of Animals (www.companyofanimals.co.uk)

The Animal Behaviour Centre was founded by Roger Mugford in 1979 and specialises in the treatment of difficult and even life threatening behavioural problems. Since its inception, the Centre has researched new techniques and equipment to train and control pets, taking the hassle out of dog ownership and helping owners understand their dog's issues. Clients and their problem dogs are also sometimes the testing ground for seemingly bizarre new products and concepts!

The British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) is a charitable organisation working to promote education and scientific progress amongst veterinary surgeons. The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) is the governing professional body for veterinary surgeons, and is responsible for the accreditation of vets and professional conduct. Grove Lodge Veterinary Group Ltd is an RCVS Accredited Practice. A good site for careers advice.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) is the government sector also responsible for the Pet Travel Scheme and Quarantine. If you are thinking about travelling overseas with your pet, this site should be your first port of call.

The Dogs' Trust Shoreham (www.dogstrust.org/...)

Grove Lodge have been the Dogs Trust Shoreham's vets for well over 15 years. Our veterinary surgeons visit the centre twice a week in order to provide medical care for the dogs staying there.

Inga MacKellar is one of only a handful of Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourists (CCAB) in the UK and holds a Masters degree in Companion Animal Behaviour Counselling. She is a Full Member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC). Based in the South-East, she has been helping pet owners with their problem dogs and cats since 1998. She is the behaviourist for Cat World Magazine and the behaviour expert for the Pet Plan Insurance customer magazine. She has also appeared on radio and TV as well as being co-author of the ‘APBC Book of Companion Animal Behaviour Counselling’. Inga believes in treating animals with respect, kindness and understanding and does not employ any aversive techniques.
